  • Introduction to Cooperative Control WLAN Architecture
  • HiveManager Concepts and Administration
  • WLAN Policy Design and Implementation
  • HiveAP and HiveManager Management and Administration
  • Understanding Wireless Measurements
  • Policy Enforcement at the Edge with User Profiles
  • Cooperative Control Overview
  • VLAN and Routing Strategy
  • Stateful L2/L3/L4 IP Firewall Policies
  • Advanced QoS Concepts and Design
  • MAC Routing, Best Path Forwarding, and Resiliency
  • Wireless Mesh
  • 802.1X/AAA Overview and Configuration

The course is highly interactive and features real-world scenarios and abundant laboratory exercises. This course is primarily hands on. Please bring the following in order to fully participate:

  • A wireless enabled laptop with updated wireless drivers. NOTE: If you are running Windows XP SP2, please make sure you have the following Microsoft patch installed: KB893357
  • A DB9 Serial connector for console access to our HiveAP devices. If your laptop does not have a serial connector, you can find USB to DB9 adaptors from your local electronics store
  • A functioning Ethernet port on your laptop

Aerohive Networks Advanced WLAN Configuration course

Designed for network professionals responsible for managing and supporting wireless LAN networks who can benefit from understanding and performing labs based on:

  • HiveManager Concepts and Administration
  • WLAN Policy Design and Implementation
  • HiveAP and HiveManager Management and Administration
  • Policy Enforcement at the Edge with User Profiles
  • VLAN Assignment for HiveAPs and Wireless Clients
  • Stateful L2/L3/L4 IP Firewall Policies with application layer gateway (ALG) support
  • QoS Concepts and Design for optimized voice, and rate limiting for guests
  • Best Path Forwarding and Resiliency with MAC Routing
  • Wireless Mesh Concepts
  • Guest Access with GuestManager and authenticated captive web portal on HiveAPs
  • Identity Based Tunnels for Guest Access
  • HiveAPs as DHCP servers
  • Secure client access with 802.1X/AAA with Microsoft IAS
  • HiveAPs as RADIUS servers
  • Layer 3 roaming to allow wireless clients to preserve their IP addresses while roaming between HiveAPs in different layer 3 networks
  • HiveAP classification to simplify the configuration of network objects such as VLANs and IP/Hostnames that require different settings which can be automatically applied to HiveAPs based on a specific HiveAP hostname, the location HiveAPs using topology maps, or by specifying a textual classification tag for one or more HiveAPs.

The 2-day course is highly interactive and features real-world scenarios and abundant laboratory exercises.
